Haralson County Man Sentenced to 30 Years in Prison for Child Sex Crimes

HARALSON COUNTY, Ga. – Haralson County man has been sentenced to decades in prison followed by lifetime probation after being convicted of multiple sex crimes involving children, according to court officials.

On Wednesday, Mark Murphy, Chief Superior Court Judge of Haralson County, sentenced Jimmy Wayne Labbee to 30 years in prison followed by life on probation. The sentence follows Labbee’s conviction on Nov. 25, 2025, for aggravated child molestation, two counts of child molestation, and one count of public indecency.

The case was originally investigated by the late Investigator Cheryl Smith, who retired in 2019 and passed away in 2021. During trial preparation and proceedings, assistance was provided by Lt. Heather Mecillas, according to authorities.

Prosecutors with the Polk Haralson District Attorney’s Office handled the case, including Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney Alison Karch, Assistant District Attorney Jason Jones, and Investigator Blake Terry, all of whom were credited for their work leading to the conviction and sentencing.

Stacy Williams praised the efforts of those involved and emphasized the seriousness of crimes against children.

“Although this case happened long before I was here, I still appreciate the effort of everyone involved in seeking justice for these young girls,” Williams said. “Crimes against children are egregious crimes, and we will work our hardest to bring these offenders to justice.”

Williams also acknowledged the victims for coming forward, saying he continues to pray for them as they move forward.

Labbee will serve his prison sentence before beginning lifetime probation, as ordered by the court.
