Man arrested after attempting to elude police

HARALSON COUNTY, Ga. – On Monday, June 17, 2024, at around 12:30 AM, Deputy Jon Henderson was on I-20 running Lidar and clocked a vehicle going 101 MPH.

Deputy Henderson attempted to initiate a traffic stop and the driver of the car, later identified as Montize Williams, did not comply and got off the interstate at exit 9, where he took a left turn and went into Carroll County on Five Points Road.

During the chase, which went through the City of Mount Zion, speeds reached up to 110 MPH.

The chase went into the City of Carrollton, where the Carrollton Police Department took the lead in the pursuit.

A short time later, the vehicle lost control and crashed into a telephone pole and came to a stop.

Due to the live wires on the ground, Deputies and Officers worked to get the driver out of the passenger side of the car.

An ambulance was requested, and the driver was taken to the hospital to be medically cleared. Georgia State patrol worked the wreck.

At the hospital, Deputy Henderson read Montize Williams his Miranda Rights and he agreed to speak.

Williams stated that he had a suspended license, and he there were some places officers don’t chase, so that is why he ran.

Williams stated that he was not from this area. Williams was cleared by hospital staff and then transported to the Haralson County Sheriff’s Office.

Montize Lanqavious Williams, a 20-year-old B/M out of Atlanta, GA was charged with Speeding, Reckless Driving, Failure to Maintain Lane, Failure to Signal when Turning, Fleeing and Attempting to Elude (Felony), and Driving While Unlicensed.
