PRESS RELEASE – On July 6, 2023, Sgt. Benson and Sgt. Kirkland of the Crime Suppression Unit, were on Rockmart Road and observed a vehicle driving erratically.

A traffic stop was initiated on the vehicle to check on the driver. As the truck came to a stop, a female passenger, later identified as Amy Crumley, jumped from the vehicle and ran into the woods.

Sgt. Kirkland pursued the female and detained her a short distance away. Sgt. Benson gave verbal commands to the driver of the truck, who complied and when he got out of the vehicle, a drug pipe was visible.

The male subject, identified as Jeffery Brumbelow, was searched and a quantity of methamphetamine as well as four bags of an unidentified brown powder were located.

The steps were retraced of the female who had run from the traffic stop, and a small amount of methamphetamine was located where she was detained. At that time, an agent with the Haralson Paulding Drug Task Force was called to the scene to take over the investigation.

Jeffery Scott Brumbelow, a 50-year-old W/M out of Rockmart, GA and Amy Nichole Crumley, a 39-year-old W/F out of Aragon, GA were both arrested and charged with Violation of the Georgia Controlled Substance Act (VGCSA) Possession of Methamphetamine and could potentially face additional charges once the brown powder is identified at the crime lab.
