PRESS RELEASE – On June 12, 2024, the Haralson County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, Alabama in reference to a commercial burglary that had occurred in the early hours of the morning.

Major Donnie Strain advised that the Penske truck involved was believed to be around Walmart in Bremen.

Sgt. Jarred Taylor responded to Walmart where he observed the truck.

Sgt. Taylor attempted to initiate a traffic stop but the driver fled to the south side of Wal-Mart, where he jumped out and ran, leaving the truck in gear.

The truck continued through the parking lot and it came to a rest after striking a guard rail.

The passengers in the truck, Kohlton Sheets and Krista Bradberry, exited the truck once it came to a stop and attempted to flee but were taken into custody by Sgt. Taylor.

The driver, Douglas Boatright, was apprehended by Cpl. Travis Short and Deputy Vivian Jensen after a short pursuit.

Sgt. Jason Bowman and Major Strain arrived on scene where the vehicle was photographed and impounded until a search warrant could be secured.

On June 13, 2024, Sgt. Bowman secured a search warrant and when executing the search warrant, items from the burglary in Randolph County AL were located along with masks, tools, and a small quantity of methamphetamine.

It was also discovered that the Penske truck, valued at $190,000, was stolen from a business in Temple, GA on June 11, 2024.

Sgt. Bowman and Major Strain continued the investigation which led to a search warrant being secured and executed by members of the Criminal Investigative Division at a residence on Old Highway 100 in Tallapoosa, GA.

During the execution of this search warrant there were other items recovered from the burglary in Randolph County, AL and the stolen Penske truck taken from Temple, GA.

Douglas Lee Boatright, a 52-year-old W/M out of Tallapoosa, GA is now charged with Reckless Driving, Fleeing or Attempting to Elude, Obstruction of a Law Enforcement Officer, Theft by Bringing Stolen Property into the State, Theft by Receiving Stolen Property, Possession of the Tools for the Commission of a Crime, VGCSA – Possession of Methamphetamine. Boatright is also facing a Probation Violation charge.

Kohlton Alex Sheets, a 26-year-old W/M out of Tallapoosa, GA is now charged with, Obstruction of a Law Enforcement Officer, Theft by Bringing Stolen Property into the State, Theft by Receiving Stolen Property, Possession of the Tools for the Commission of a Crime, VGCSA – Possession of Methamphetamine and Probation Violation.

Krista Kellee Bradberry, a 34-year-old W/F out of Tallapoosa, GA is now charged with Obstruction of a Law Enforcement Officer, Theft by Bringing Stolen Property into the State, Theft by Receiving Stolen Property, Possession of the Tools for the Commission of a Crime, VGCSA – Possession of Methamphetamine.

All three suspects are now facing extradition back to Alabama once their cases are handled here.

Two of the three were denied bond here while one has a bond, but will go back to Alabama if released.

‘I would like to say I appreciate the teamwork that was given in this case,” states Sheriff Stacy Williams. “The quick response from our Patrol Division in locating and arresting these suspects along with the hours and effort put in by Sgt. Bowman, Major Strain from Randolph County as well as other members of our Criminal Investigative Division netted the evidence needed to solve cases in multiple jurisdictions.
