PRESS RELEASE – On Tuesday, October 10, 2023, around 1:00 a.m., Deputies were advised that Temple Police Department was in a chase on I-20 westbound, deputies were advised that the 1999 Blue GMC Sonoma had an expired registration and that Temple PD was stopping the chase.
Deputy Jon Henderson was close to I-20, so he got on the interstate and observed the truck and got behind it. Just past the Waco exit, Deputy Henderson initiated a traffic stop and the Sonoma picked up speed.
Deputy Henderson and a Bremen Police Department Officer pursued the vehicle at speeds up to 95 miles per hour.
Just past exit five, a Georgia State Trooper entered the pursuit and conducted a PIT (Precision Immobilization Technique) and ended the chase around mile marker two.
When the truck was coming to a stop, a male, later identified as Brandon Duff, jumped out and ran across the interstate and crossed over the eastbound lanes and entered the wood line.
Deputy Henderson observed a female in the truck, and she was taken into custody without incident.
While taking the female into custody, Law Enforcement on scene observed a black bag that was unzipped that appeared to come from the wrecked truck, there were drugs inside that bag.
During the search of the truck, a firearm stolen out of Douglasville and more drugs were located. Sgt. McAdams and K-9 Janco arrived on scene and attempted to track the suspect but were unable to locate him.
All the drugs, which included approximately three pounds of methamphetamine, and the firearms were taken into evidence.
Warrants were secured against Brandon Wayne Duff, a 36-year-old W/M out of Mableton, GA for VGCSA Trafficking Methamphetamine, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Possession of a Firearm by Convicted Felon, Theft by Receiving Stolen Property, and VGCSA Possession of Schedule II Drugs, he is also facing multiple traffic citations.
Sara Constance Stanley, a 41-year-old W/F out of Winston, GA was arrested at the scene and has been charged with VGCSA Trafficking Methamphetamine, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Theft by Receiving Stolen Property, and VGCSA Possession of Schedule II Drugs.
