PRESS RELEASE – In the early morning hours of September 25, 2023, deputies were dispatched to Woodland Circle in reference to a stabbing. On arrival, Deputy Jon Henderson, and Sgt. Lee Bauder spoke to the complainant who stated that her son had stabbed her fiancé.
The complainant was unable to say where her son was at that time, so Sgt. Bauder and Deputy Henderson cleared the residence and then advised medical personnel that the scene was safe for them to enter.
The complainant was very distraught and was not able to give the deputies much information.
The complainant did tell deputies that she thought her son overheard her fiancée say he didn’t like him, and he came into the master bedroom and started punching him.
The complainant said she thought her son was just punching him, but then she saw the knife.
The complainant was also injured during the attack. Deputies did not find the son, Dylan McCleskey, at the home and his car was missing from the driveway. The car had been described by the complainant only as a small silver car. Deputies searched the surrounding area and were not able to locate.
Deputy Henderson spoke to medical personnel, and they advised that there were multiple stab wounds to his shoulder and head, and he would be transported.
Sgt. Bouder contacted Sgt. Jason Bowman of the Criminal Investigative Division and he came to the scene to take over the investigation. After securing a search warrant for the home, Sgt. Bowman and Crime Scene Investigator Robin Hood processed the scene and other areas of the home that contained evidence related to this case.
Sgt. Bowman was able to obtain the information for the offender’s vehicle and a lookout was given to local agencies.
As a result of the investigation, Sgt. Bowman took an Aggravated Assault warrant for Dylan James McCleskey, a 31-year-old W/M out of Waco, GA.
In the evening of September 25, 2023, Tallapoosa Police Department arrested McCleskey and transported him to the Haralson County Detention Center. This case is still under investigation and no additional information can be released at this time.
